    Renishaw OMP 40 Probe

    Hi,

I have a question regarding the Renishaw OMP 40 probe with optical transmission. Will the optical transmission still work if the probe is inside a metal cylinder probing an internal bore. I need to probe a bore that is roughly 6" inside a outer metal cylinder.

    Thank You

There needs to be a clear line of site between the OMP 40 probe site glass and the optical reciever otherwise you will get a probe obstructed alarm.

    Best regards.

    Thanks Mike,

I am looking at a HAAS VMC with the wireless probe. I noticed they also offer the Marposs probe. The Marposs website says you can get this probe with either optical or radio transmission, I would guess that the radio transmission of probe data would solve my problem. Any feedback on this.

    Thank You

    Twitte,

I have not used a radio probe, but from what I have heard about them it does seem like your best option.

Note; I don't think Haas offers the radio probe as an option, you would need to buy your mill with the probe ready option then purchase the Renishaw or Marposs probe separately.

    Best regards.

    Mike.
