Hi
I m thinking of putting 1D barcode on Polycarbonate directly by DP laser.
Will this be a right means whether Barcode will be scan able....?
has anybody tried it before. Looking forward to support.

As I understood - polycarbonate is clear. Are you sure that DP laser will engrave on clear material at all? May be better and cheaper try Co2 laser with galvohead.
Thanks.
well I m already marking Polycarbonate with DP laser.(attach please see imgae of DP lasser marking on PC)
The laser marking is in Crisp Black color on PC, but I have never tried Barcoding on it. I heard that Barcoding requires solid white surface or bright surface , I have doubts on it.
I hope u understand my concern of outting baroce on low contrast material like Polycarbonate.

Perffect black color - I think will be NO PROBLEM with barcoding and reading.
What is brand of your DP? Very interesting as our was from YM Laser and we can't do anything on clear materials.
Jiatai laser from China
Hi
I tried Barcoding on Polycarbonate by my DP laser byut failed. It printed but is completely not scan able. eason might be low resolution ogf Polycarbonate material resulting scanner to unable indentify lines in barcodes.
Secondly as I m printing barcode in size 15 x 10 mm there is not satisfactory spaces left behind bars and the space is filled by micro spores on Laser marked polycarbonate.
Any suggestions....

Engrave and after engraving make few moves on engraved area with carbon paper. Will have black and reasonable durable barcode.
I have seen barcodes on stainless steel before so I dont think you need a solid white background. I plan on doing this with my co2 laser with cermark. Though havent a barcode scanner to test it yet.
You could use a substrate to help define the lines.
You DO NOT need black and white, just contrast. The scanner sees reflected light so a change to reflectivity is sufficient. I do 2D barcodes on gold all day long and only remove the oxidation layer. To the eye it isn't very different but the scanners pick it up just fine.
