    twisted

    hi all,
i am trying to do a simple curved plastic runner gate (v small only bout 3mmx5mm) but i keep getting a twisted edge along 1 side.
the 2 profiles are the same shape, just different sizes, both with 3 lines and 1 arc.
it looks ok if i remove the 2 top lines and do a surface on the 'U' shape. but if i try a surface loft with the top edge i get 1 sharp side and 1 slightly rounded.
if i do it as a solid, the distortion is more pronounced along the edge.
i have tried picking in different spots, but that just shifts the distorted edge.

what am i doing wrong? something simple i bet !!

    thanks

the jpg shows 'U' surface loft, surface loft with top line, solid, basic shape.
    zip is file in x4mu3

Have you tried using "Create Ruled Surface" ( both chaining the same direction, and the same respective start point/corner ?
You could also try breaking the "top" line at the mid-point, and then chaining from there, to eliminate the "roll" around the corner.

yes, have tried different lines and directions as well, always both in the same direction.

tried that as well, tried on the arc as well, but that threw other problems in.

i have done the job at work using the surfaced 'U' without the top line, but i was wondering why i karnt get this to work.
if i pick from the other side it places the mismatched side on the other side.
i have even redrawn the profiles.
must be me, ah well next time
