    Loosing Jog mode ?!

    Hi Gerry !
Hop all is fine as you'd like !?

Having a ...strang "new" kinda trouble....and, simly, well....easier to ask then spend more then I lately tried to understand !!

    My situation goes as :
When I open the computer and your screen set, all is fine as fare what I'm refering to ( jogging mode)
When I open a NC file, all is still fine, set the rough position and then the tool setup...and on !!
After the completion of a NC file or even pat of a file, when it would call for a tool change....can't jog in continuous mode anymore ??!!
When I go to the jog sceen, I then see the continuous botton with the Step button on ?!? ( See photo )

    Attachment 290950

Any idea what's up ??...and a solution to fix this....never seen before !?!
    Thks, Robert

Unfortunately, no idea here. I'm basically off the grid for a few days on the shores of Lake Superior. I'll try to look into it when I get home.

    Re: Mach3 2010 Screen set

I'm somehow picking up wifi from the campsite office 1/4 mile away, so I can read messages today.

I looked at the screenset, and the LED's for step and continuous jog are standard Mach3 LED's, so they shouldn't be on at the same time. My guess would be either a coruupt .xml file, or a corrupt Mach3 installation.
I'd try replacing the .xml with one from the .xml backup folder, or a saved one if you have it.

    If that doesn't work, then I'd try re-installing Mach3.

"or a saved one if you have it."

I tried that rout....out of a know "safe" back-up and still the same !?
May it be from my G-code ( from mastercam in this case) ?!
Here's an example from one G-code making this happening :

    Re: Mach3 2010 Screen set

I just ran your code on my laptop, and It was still in continuous jog mode when it finished, and it jogged fine. This is with the parallel port driver installed.

There shouldn't be any way for g-code to be changing your jog settings. You might want to just reinstall Mach3.

    Re: Mach3 2010 Screen set

    Enh.....
    Found another possibility....getting closer !!
    I'll second that as it's not the G-code that I though !!
But, it's ONLY happening ( the jogg problem) as soon as I'm striking the "Ctrl" key to use the short window key " Ctrl + O " to open a file.

BUT the interesting part.....if I simply click with the mouse the top left Icon ( to open a file).....opening all these "so call problem files"....no jogging error / trouble ??

So, at this point in my tests....I can say it's occurring only when I strike the CTRL key !?!

BTW....I did install a fresh Mach3 V- R3-043.066....as the one I had before all this ( meaning, all was fine)...and still does it ....only as I strike the CTRL keyboard key ??
and...PS.....all this is on a stand alone dedicated computer for the CNC....with "only" simple xp & Mach3....no web, no network...nothing else!!

    Later !!

    Re: Mach3 2010 Screen set

    Hello Gerry,

I have a problem I am using your screen set and for Aspire I am using your Post Processors.

The problem I have is at the end of the Job. The bit raises then it turns off the spindle then it lowers to Z=0 and then goes to home

I have the impression it is in the Post Processors could that be ?

    Thanks

Show me the last 10 lines of your g-code? The post processor moves the Z axis to the Z Home position in Aspire. Same as the default post processor.

Set up your Park Position in the Screenset. Configure it to use Safe Z, and set up Safe Z in Machine Coordinates in Config > Safe Z.

    Hi,

I have ignore m6 call checked on, but whenever it encounters one in my code its still calling for a tool change.

I'm just wondering if its how Bodcad posts out its code?
Here is the last tidbit of code...newbie here so not sure if m6 is the same as m06 ??

    Re: Mach3 2010 Screen set

Yes, M6 is the same as M06.
Your g-code has a tool change in it.

If you don't want Mach3 to stop at all, go to General Config and select "Ignore Tool Change".

The Ignore M6 in the screenset just stops it from zeroing the tool, but it will still stop at all M6's.

    Re: Mach3 2010 Screen set

    okay thanks,

I guess i'm a little confused on its usage then (newbie)...an example of when you would want to check ignore m6 then?

I was assuming it would just bypass the m6 call altogether when checked....

    Re: Mach3 2010 Screen set

The purpose of the checkbox in the screenset is to prevent the toolchange macro from auto zeroing. It's there because a user requested it. There are no onscreen controls to bypass the M6 completely, so it's a workaround.

If you want to bypass the M6 completely, make the change in General Config.

Imo, you only want to ignore the M6 is if the M6 shouldn't be there. So it's a workaround for bad g-code.

The g-code tells the machine what to do. If the g-code tells the machine to do something you don't want it to, then you should fix the g-code.

    Re: Mach3 2010 Screen set

I'm trying to get 2010 setup and i'm encountering some strange behavior when I try to do the auto zero. It zeros on the movable plate on the stock just fine then moves to the fixed plate and touches it. At this point it lifts approximately 50mm and starts the slow probe. After moving 5-6mm it stops and give a incorrect material offset. It seems like it's not picking up the DRO when it touches the fixed plate the first time. Any ideas?

    Re: Mach3 2010 Screen set

Gerry, I upgraded my Aspire and I think it messed up some stuff. I haven't dug into it yet, but I think the post processor was overwritten.
Machine Always does an initial tool change, even when to correct tool number is in during start. In other words, Tool 1 is installed, the Tool Number is #1 in Mach. I zero the tool on the plate, then it goes to the fixed plate, then wants a tool change, then does the fixed plate again, then it starts cutting. Also, No more parking when complete, goes to tool change position.

A few other small oddities. Honestly it was a while back when I set all this up and it's been going great until recently.
Any pointers so I don't spend lots of time troubleshooting?

    Richard
