    Re: Mach3 2010 Screen set

After a new computer and monitor, I am setting Mach3 up again, and am having an issue with the diagnostic screen not showing correctly:
I have no idea how to correct this, help? 1680 x 1050 I'm LOVEN the extra screen real-estate! (from 1024x768)

EDIT: Never mind, feel like a dumbass now... found the screen divider...

You have to copy the macros from Mach3\macros\2010 into Mach3\macros\yourprofilename\

If you hover your mouse over the red line area, it will change the cursor and allow you to slide the diagnostic screen.

    Re: Mach3 2010 Screen set

    Hello Gerry,

I have to start by saying great screen set and features, could never go back to the default Mach interface. I been using your sceenset with the autochange tool macro flawlessly for some time now. I followed your video tutorial on how to use, and even though it worked a little differently I never thought to address it until now.

In the tutorial video it shows to do the "initial" auto zero... zeros to material plate, than goes to and zeros fixed plate, than starts cutting.

With my set up, after the fixed plate zero it goes back to its original X,Y position, I than hit "Cycle Start" it than goes back to tool change position and repeats fixed plate zero before cutting starts.

I realize the Macro is doing what its suppose to do because my PP is putting a M6 before spindle start. So Instead of trying to modify my PP that I have absolutely no experience with, I'm trying to find a simpler work around. I experimented and seems to work by starting with a "Simple" auto zero than cycle start. This way its only doing a fixed plate auto zero once in the beginning.

Do you think starting with a Simple zero could cause any problems? Hoping to avoid wasted material or broken bits.

    Thanks in advance,
    Dan

Yes, it will. You need to do the initial auto zero to set the location of the fixed plate relative to Z zero. If you do the simple Auto zero, the Z zero will be incorrect after the tool change.

What CAM software are you using?

The easiest thing to do is probably load the g-code, then click the Edit g-code button and remove the first M6.

    Re: Mach3 2010 Screen set

    Hi Gerry,

I do 99% of my work off the table surface. Therefore, I would like to edit the auto
z code to just touch down once and have that reference both the work, and table.

I would think this could be easily done, and safe to do so?
I'm using VCarve Pro with Mach3 and your screenset.

I'm not sure where to start, if you could point me in the right direction please.

    Thanks,
    Chris.

Can you clarify what you mean by this?

    Re: Mach3 2010 Screen set

Sorry, sometimes my terminology is lacking

    I don't have a movable reference plate.
I'm using a permanent fixed plate for both referencing the table, and the work.

So the auto zero macro touches down on the fixed plate twice.
(Once to ref the work, then the second time to ref the table)

Being as my movable plate and fixed plate are the same,
I'd like it to touch down only once.

    better?

Yes. So you really don't use the fixed plate as a reference plate. I'll see if I can do something later today or tomorrow.

So your putting your zero at the bottom of your material and its thickness in your cam software??? Fixed plate is all you would need!!! Great idea..Thanks Mogal!

I've always found this the easiest way to do things...
I always know the thickness of the material I'm working with, and when I don't or its not flat, I will measure the thickest area,
and then mill it flat. Yes, adjusting the thickness in the cam software (VCarve Pro)

So the touch plate should only have to touch once, as the reference for the table and the material are the same. "ZERO"

No worries Gerry... Been loving the screenset this many years... I can wait a couple more... days

    Re: Mach3 2010 Screen set

    OK, try this.
Don't use the Initial Auto Zero anymore, as you no longer need to save the location of the fixed plate.

Just use the Simple Auto Zero to start, and during tool changes, this should basically just do another auto zero to the fixed plate.

This hasn't been tested, so be careful with it.

Depends on how big your fingers are.

Any screenset will work with a touchscreen. The buttons may be on the small side in the 2010 screenset, though. I've never tried it.
