Apologies if in wrong forum.

General question, advice please.

I have just purchased a 'pacer compact' cnc circa 2001.

It has old windows 98 pc with internal controller card.

AXYZ, who I presume must have bought pacer at some point, advertise that an upgrade to a new controller box (+ pc and software) is available to run it via usb from vista or windows 7 system.

Now I am a novice here and would like to ask if I need controller (I already have pc and want to use vectric software) from AXYZ, at a presumablty inflated price or whether their are generic and cheaper alternative controlers out there that will easily do the job?

Hi,

I was the Technical Manager at PACER Systems and have been self employed as TS Services since the AXYZ takeover.

Which Compact model did you purchase C800, C900 or C902 ?
What version of XMC software is on the PC you got with the machine ?
Will you do mainly 2D or 3D machining ?
