Question Plate Marking and Center Punch options for CNC Plasma

Looking for opinions on plate marking and engraving tools to attach to the gantry. Want to mark center holes and also be able to make lines and small text.

Is there anything suitable that is less $ than the CP 9361? CP makes a smaller 1cfm unit for a lot less $ but I wonder if it has enough power to mark steel.

Is there an electric engraver that would work?

    Thanks,

    Chester.

how much more powerful is the pneumatic engraver compared to a plain ol' electric engraver?

maybe a dremel with a small carbide burr, you will have a go pretty slow but it would work.

    Hey 4130,

I think an electric engraver would work fine but my concern is that it would need a good z reference so the cutter wouldn't get jammed into the work.

I wonder if anybody has experience with an electric engraver.

Plain ol Bill is building one using the CP air scribe so I'm hoping he will post some of his results once it's up and running.

    Thanks,

    Chester.

Worked on mine a little today but ran out of time. I was plumbing air and running 120V to the solenoids. Getting close but not quite done.

    Pneumatic air scribe link

    Guys,
Unixadm built an air scribe and has everything documented in his table build. Here is the link to his posts:

He used the pneumatic version and has everything well documented along with videos. He also worked with Less from Sheetcam to have a custom post written.
