K2 9850 machine.

We have been having an intermittent problem with the Y axis movement of our machine. It suddenly stops, and the red light on the controller box comes on. Re-enable, and press an up/down arrow key, and the machine makes a tiny move in the requested direction, and stops, red light comes on. We found, for a while, that removing, cleaning, and reinstalling the brushes of the Y motors would clear the problem for a while. Now however, this isn't working. K2 is unable to supply replacement brushes, and suggested replacing the motors (This seems like a $300.00 solution to a $10.00 problem). When the machine is enabled, the X and Z axis work correctly.

Some Questions:

1. Does any one know where I can get replacement brushes for these motors? (DAREHWA model D860-30B7-TC9) I am located in Ottawa, Canada.

2. Any Idea why this is a problem at all? The machine has about 1800 hours total run time on it. We cut softwoods, mostly 1.5 inches thick, using a Porter-Cable router with a 3/8" cutter, running at a feed rate of 90. Cuts are done in two passes.

Thanks for your time.
