Talking Maker Faire! Would you let a 5yr old drive your CNC?

Here are a couple of pictures from Maker Faire Detroit. One of the things I printed was a maze and let kids and a couple of adults drive the machine out of the maze (Z-axis disabled of course) It was worth dissembling the 'ship in a bottle' and moving the CNC out of my spare bedroom.

I had a great time and met a lot of CNC enthusiasts!

How much trouble was it to get the machine down there? :-)

Had I known you were going to be there, I probably would have went.

maker faires seem like a good afternoon. I hope to hit the one in NYC this fall. Make mag is how I was turned onto CNC. It is funny how some things seem to come full circle.

Thats cool & innovative, You are giving the young generation a touch of what a CNC is like, love to visit Maker fair at least once, but its a long way from India.

That machine is a beautiful piece of work.

Gerry- I assumed you couldn't stay away! I was sure I would meet you there!

Thank you everyone for the comments!

Here is the Gcode for the maze I printed. I scaled it down to approximately 6" X 6". The pen rig that I made has a spring on it so I didn't have to worry much about the Z direction. If the pen was zeroed on the paper, it would go to -0.0625 to do the engraving and rapid at +0.125 above the paper. You may have to adjust for this in the zeroing for use with a rigid setup. Zero is at the very center of the maze. Units are Imperial. Make sure you verify through backplotting etc....
