Advice Needed: Searching for a Small Motherboard

I am finishing the upgrade up to my 1985 CNC'd SuperMax YCM-30 Milling Machine, with Larken Viper200 controllers, CNC4PC C1 BOB, US Digital Rotary encoders, etc.

I am running Mach3 off of an older desktop IBM NetVista computer - running Windows XP Pro. It is working great.

I am considering purchasing a very small footprint motherboard and power supply - and putting that inside the electrical cabinet too - and thinking of purchasing it off of Ebay

Can anyone give some advice on which motherboard to use for this?

    Thanks for your input,

    Joe

    Post DG41MJ Core II motherboard

    Joe,

Take a look at the Mini-ITX motherboards Intel makes.

The DG41MJ Core II motherboard is a awesome deal and it even has a parallel port on board.

We use lots of these boards and they work flawlessly.

    Joe,

I use a mini atx motherboard from JETWAY model 72WE2G-OC-LF listed on linuxcnc wiki as a low latency motherboard.

I chose this motherboard not for its size but rather for its latency performance ( important in realtime EMC2 setup).

    Thanks for the input.

I'm not interested in running Linux.. just looking for the smallest board I can find at a reasonable price... I will put Windows XP Pro on it, and run Mach3.. It would be nice if the motherboard carried its own power supply too... not critical but nice to have

    Any other ideas/recommendations out there?

    Thanks to all,

    Joe

I agree with jalessi, the Intel DG41MJ is a fine motherboard for your needs.
Check out item # 300446153932 on Ebay. It is a Socket 775 and does have one
parallel port and one serial port along with Vga onboard. This is the one I would
purchase if I need a small form factor.
    Regards!
