How to join carbide to withstand high temps?

Hi all, I have a somewhat strange question. I have to opportunity to use a bunch of scrap carbide to make a sculpture. I know I can join carbide to carbide with brazing, but the brazing won't hold up in high temperatures(think propane flame).

Does anyone know an easy way to join 2 pieces of carbide that's relatively heat-proof??

    Thanks in advance.

Not sure exactly what you have in mind... how about 3000 degree castable refractory cement?

I can't say - because I've never tried. My only experience with refractory cement was in building an electric kiln for metalcasting. Used it to join lightweight firebrick for the kiln base and lid. The brick is incredibly light and porous, and bonds well to the cement.

There are different curing techniques, depending on the type of refractory cement you're using.

Will your sculpture be subjected to high temps after it is completed? Can you give more details?

Silver braze will hold up to oxy-acetylene, unless the parts are so small that you wil be heating parts that are allready joined. In which case, the silver solder will flow again.
