This thread is so epic... I tried digging through it to see if there was an answer in it but didn't find anything.

I'm in process of doing a Spindle Bearing + treadmill motor + timing belt drive + KBIC-125 & Heatsink upgrade on my G0704.

I've got all the fabrication work done for the spindle and motor mounts. Now I'm ready to do the wiring...

What has everyone else using there KBIC-125 + Heatsink been doing for their enclosure + mounting options..

I'm debating just mounting it in the base and punching a couple of holes for a couple of nice twist lock power connectors for AC Line and DC motor connections and another locking connector for motor control. I'm going to use a C6 board for spindle control... I think that should just get mounted onthe heat sink so that I only have to run low voltage wiring back to the CNC control box to tap the BOB.

Any advice from those that have already been here?
    Nathan

I put mine in the console and just run wires to the mill, not a big fan of putting electronics under the mill.

Got my spindle noise damper doohicky in the mail yesterday. Looks great. Thanks Hoss!

Good to hear thanks, was hoping a stamp covered the postage.

Got a couple more toys from Grizzly.
Was looking at their 12 inch 3 in 1 sheet metal tool but the weight was too much for me so I got a 12 inch brake and 12 inch slip roller
that just mounts in my new vise.
Good enough for me and stores easily in the drawers.
Now we can make some nice telescoping way covers like madwelder did.

I was going to pick up there 24" 3in1 machine. But I looked at it in person, and changed my mind. The castings looked really poor, and the general "feel" of it just wasn't... right...

    Could just be me.

These little guys are quite nicely made.

They even look better (than the 24") in your pics!

Probably made at different foundries - paint is a different color even.

edit: Doh! Grizzly. Somehow I thought HF. Ugh. Ignore me!

Ah, that makes sense now, grizzly products are much nicer than HF.

The new chip tray and enclosure is in progress.
Board warpage or a crooked floor gives me a nice slope to the front left of the base for drainage, either way I'll take it
and avoid adding more panels to direct the flow to the drain like I planned.
It's not as severe as it looks in the pic, just slightly off level on the bubble.
    Love those happy accidents.

I also have a very uneven floor in my basement so I resorted to welding a pair of these to the back of my shopfox mobile base. I'm now able to level the table precisely and gave it just the right tilt so the flow goes towards my drainage pipes.

That was my first time stick welding so please, hold all comments on the quality of the weld. It's not pretty but it holds (I hope).

Good idea, the welds look like they'll hold just fine.

The big chip tray got it's final coat of marine top coat this morning, I think I'm getting high even with the door open and fan on.
Burning a scented candle is helping.
Next is some coolant plumbing and pvc pipe for wiring.

Awesome job Hoss! I can't believe how tricked out that 704 is!

    cheers, Ian
It's rumoured that everytime someone buys a TB6560 based board, an engineer cries!

Thanks, it's been mostly a testbed all these years but now it's time to get it fully functional with my favorite mods and put her to work now that I have at least some elbow room.

Been too sick to do anything lately but doing better today to get back at it a bit, after the pirate game that is.
Going with a clear coolant tank this time for easy fluid level viewing.

    Hi, All.

Those that have used Hoss' plans with extended travel and Linearmotionbearings2008 ballscrews, did you have to mill out more from the base than what was shown in the plans to be able to fit the Y-axis screw? I had milled a little bit deeper at the aft of the base than what the plans called for, but I still wouldn't be able to drive it all the way. I also had problems with the bottom of the mount and ballnut hitting the crossmembers.

do you have a grizzly g0704? if not there a some differences in the various bf20 types so you have to expect some compensation.
