    Hoss's G0704

I guess we'll start a new thread since the jealous little child
can't stand to see someone actually posting useful free information.
If you're a similar little child, you are not welcome here.
The information will be passed along irregardless of their childish attempts to soil it.

    The previous thread is here.

Oh well, whatcha gonna do but keep going and going and going and going.
The views will still keep climbing on the other thread as we use it for reference.
This thread is for information on the G0704 or similar BF mills, what I've done to mine and what you can do to yours.
Adults Only, children will be ignored. Be warned, any ignorant behavior will be reported.

    Wow man....

I cannot tell you how much this really sucks..... Watching all of this nonsense is really annoying. I realize that you and Ray have not gotten along for some time now and that is fine but I gotta say that it is a DAMN shame that is the way it is. Believe me I do not think I have to tell you how much you have inspired me with all of your interesting goings on in your shop. You are definitely one of the most interesting fellows on this forum. However, ray has also been a seriously helpful contributor to many on here including me. I have received many PMs and even talked personally with him on the phone when he had something that he thought might help me with my build. Bob Warfield is also a major contributor here as well as his well known and even more well done website is evidence of that. Personally I could give a rats ass whose mill is faster or whatnot, mine is not that fast but it has proven to be able to get away from me way faster than I can react a time or two...

What DOES matter here is that ALL of you guys are inspirations to those of us out here that have much to learn and watch and read and glean whatever we can from your endeavors success or failure.... I can honestly say that without the help and ideas of guys like you fellas my machine would not be a reality today. There have been MANY on here that have given ideas and information willingly that has spurred my build and I cannot personally thank you guys enough. I realize these forums can get crazy sometimes and people surely can say things that can come off as sounding sarcastic or rude. I am QUITE sure I have done it a time or two... If I have ever offended anyone on here I sincerely apologise..... But the reality is that this forum is more of a resource for this stuff than most on here realize. If you do a google search for ANYTHING that is CNC related you will quickly see that the top few entries are CNC zone stuff..... Why is that? Because of the variety of interesting and knowledgeable people on here that FREELY contribute and help others unselfishly ALL THE TIME!!! I am quite proud to be a part of this community and value it's information for my current projects and those future projects that I do not even understand yet....

So in short please take a step back here and think about what you post and how you post it more importantly, we are all human and can make mistakes and as has been said the written word leaves much to be misunderstanded often. Cooler heads MUST prevail and let's continue talking about what we learn from each other and not wether or not ours is better than yours.... peace

    Pete

A question was posted in the moderator forum as to why a certain recent thread was closed and posts deleted.
It might pay to re-read the forum policies.
The best way to treat taunters is to ignore them, by responding you play right into their hands.

Man, I missed something here... What exactly happened? Last I viewed the Hoss G0704 thread there was a dispute about rapid speeds. But it didn't seem to violent? Was this what caused it to close?

ah,that old deal, the instigators get away with it and the retaliaters are punished for defending themselves or others.
guess i'm in the wrong business.

you are right pete, kabibble and i don't get along, not since i dared to correct him on something a long time ago, never will.
i do ignore as best i can, now if it was only possible to get an electronic restraining order against him for my threads, that would be great.
i'd promise to keep out of his threads.

Another that is very grateful for the info provided here on THIS mill. I am presently sitting in front of my new controller PC watching EMC move the cursor around and watching that become little pulses dancing on my oscilloscope and about to connect it up to my drivers and motors. Giddy is the word I would use and I'm at this point largely due to the work Hoss is sharing on here.

That sure went south in a hurry and I was wondering why... didn't know the history there. I'm in that camp that is not interested in what a $5-15K mill is doing with uber-expensive controllers, drives, and motors. I'm interested in what my $1.2K mill can do with some time invested and a resonable level of expense and I hope that's where this thread remains.

Can I ask a question to the fellow BF20 or similar owners? Hoss what kind of results do you get with side milling? when I use any size 2 flute end mill on Alum or brass or mild steel I get wavey results... Is this a limitation to the machine? or can you recomend some things to try to get rid of this?

Fly cutting gives me good results.

Thanks to eveyone that posts the great free info on this forum to get guys like me just starting out with my first mill making chips and generally pretending to make quality parts... (its more fun than I was expecting to be honest )

Look forward to your results using EMC, I have been wanting to get into using it as well.
I'm getting tired of Windows these days.

I haven't had the mill in one piece for very long since I got it, always working on this and that for the projects.
I generally use 4 flute endmills for most everything, basically doubles your spindle rpm vs a 2 flute.
Keep 2 flutes around for deep slotting for chip evacuation, others use them for roughing.
Therefore the 2 flute will need a higher rpm or slower feed rate to get a nice finish in comparison.
    Climb milling will help too.
