Mach 3 with USB microscope for scanning

Well I bought an Ebay USB microscope and downloaded Tormach's scanner freeware.

I was able to have this setup up and running through Mach3 in about 2 hours total time.

It only took a few minutes to setup and get things rolling, but I had a few issues using the software after I did their testing with a penny. I ironed it out and it works very nice. For those interested in doing scanning in 2d for checking parts, or scanning in parts to reverse engineer , this is a very fast nice setup. Looks very good so far from what I see.

The software is $335 for a full version which then lets you export files as DXF so you can load them directly into cam software. I am contemplating this purchase because $335 is alot of money. But the ease at which this was accomplished, it might well be worth it.

Anyone else mess around with this ?

I didn't do this on my Novakon machine, but one of my other small machines.

    g29cc,

What information can you save to your computer with the scanner freeware? For example, can you save enough information to draw up the outline of the scanned item?

    Thanks.

You can't save anything at all. The only thing you could do is to write down your information and make a sketch and then draw it up on your cam program.

Only the full legal version can export and save anything at all.
