BF20 (G0705) Power Draw Bar Build (Poor, poor mans drawbar)

Here is my new take on a power drawbar. I did not opt for the common Pneumatic variety. Instead I went with a Cordless Impact driver. On the cheap!

Total build cost me $5 for the switch and a impact driver I bought as a disposable tool for a job (cost me $60). and some scrap metal.

Its a proof of concept design and needs some refinement to clean up the motor and wiring.

brilliant! I'll be on the lookout for a cheap impact.

if you get the right voltage impact, you could even hardwire it with a computer power supply or something.

Problem is the Amp draw more than the voltage. I found the data sheet for the motor used and its crazy the requirements.

I was thinking of modifying the charger, but apparently these new types of chargers are not just a power supply like the old school ones. (they ramp the output depending on the battery state and charging characteristics... something like that.

for the mild inconvenience of charging the battery, probably not worth the trouble wiring a power supply then

That's fantastic! Love it. I might have to toss that onto mine in the distant future.

Cool, I have one of those my Dad gave me just sitting in a box.
Might have to try it on the RF45.

I like the idea but, me and batteries dont play well together...If i could find a corded 110v version id be more inclined to go this route, or if anyone can whip up a way to power the cordless version from a power supply on the cheap?

I think im better off with a pneumatic type drawbar anyways as i will be wanting automatic tool changes down the road...HF does have a version of the 1/4" cordless impact for about $20.00, i just wonder if the insides are cased nicely like the one you used...
