    Spindle Choice

I was wandering if there are any wood routers that don't require brushes(brushless). Are AC routers, witch are the variable speed routers, brushless or just ac. I have a harbor freight router and i know it's only going to last long enough for me to build some upgrades for the router and a new mount for a new spindle when i get one. P.S. it doesn't need to be high powered. 2Hp is more than enough for wood and occasional aluminum. any help is appreciated

In my travels, all I have seen are AC brush motors on hand-held routers. My personal favorite is the Hitachi M12VC. The bearings and brushes have held up to about 300+ hours of use!

I do happen to have a Chinese spindle with a VFD that does not have brushes. They come in a range of powers and are very quiet. I will never buy a handheld router for CNC work again.
