    Tool Changer Noise !!

    hi Guys

Just pulled my machine out of storage ( 3 Years ). Everything working fine except for the Tool Changer.. Functionally its working great.. Problem is an anoying sound as it gets to the beginning and then the ending of the stroke..I removed all the covers and looked for the ovious ( Chips ) .. Its clean and no chips.. If I disconnect the spring part of the problem goes away.. But the last 20% of the travel it makes a chirping noise... Very strange!! I put some wd-40 on the bearing and still get the churp.. I bet someone has experienced this.. Is it a seal or something that might have go dry ?? I have other fadals and they are all "Chirp Less"..

    Appreciate any comments !!

    Chips--
It sounds like the belt may be too worn and hitting the bottom of the "V" groove rather than on the sides of the belt. Also one of the pulley grooves could be worn too wide allwing the belt to bottom out.
Another possibility is that the rails may be bend or not aligned cause a minor mechanicals bind causing belt slippage.
There may be more issue but I'm having a brain fart at the moment!

    !!

Neal, your right on the money !!

Belt is slipping and I can manually create the situation..

I will get a new belt and see if the situation goes away..

    Cheers Chips...

Remember that at the END of the travel the belt should slip a small about to prevent the changer from bouncing of the end of travel.
