I get a SERVO DRIVE FAULT ON AXIS S when the machine has finished a cut and is retracting to tool change. I think its at the point where the brake should come on. Can anyone help?
It does is 8 times out of 10 but not when you operate it manually.

Have a look on the spindle drive to see if there are any alarm messages. That would help tell what is wrong. There is no brake on the spindle.
What is the serial number on the machine?

I have same problem. After it runs for a while 4-5 hrs., it seems the spindle has a hard time orienting then alarms out. I have a max 3 bmc40. Did you find a solution. I have replaced the magnetic sensor and picup with no improvement. Any info would be greatly apprciated.

As soon as we called the local Hurco engineer he told us it was a spindle drive fault which we had to send the drive from the cabinet to him so he could repair it. £2000 He said it would get so that it cut out more often at lower revs untill it would not work at all.

I am now having the same problem with my bmc 40. Has anyone been able to correct this and if so how. Any help would be appreciated.

Rofuth, it's usually better to start a new thread, or sometimes your questions can get lost.

There were a lot of different spindle drives that could be had on the BMC-40. If you can figure out which one it is that will help figuring out the problem.

If you can't find a name or model on it anywhere take a picture and post it.
