    Question NLX2500Y700 Tool Offset

    Hello Everyone,
I hope someone can help me, I am using a Sandvik Turbo, Capto mount, boring and OD turning tool. I have set the tool offsets for tool #8 in #8- and #18 offsets..
I program my part using CAPS selecting the tool position #8 with offset #8 for boring and tool #8 offset #18 for OD turning.
The program is generated correctly but on the OD section of the program the offsets do not change even though the operating screen shows tool 0818 being selected.
Is there a parameter change that would allow the machine to change offsets without turret index.
I hope this all make sense.

no need to mess with parameters, just call up the correct tool.... say you are using t0808 (tool 8 offset 8) and then want to switch to the other offset, call up t0818(tool 8 offset 18). the mori shouldnt index the turret, just change to the other offset..... try it without using M6 to be sure, it should then just use the other offset in the callout.

also, make sure you have touched both offsets off with your probe...

    Re: NLX2500Y700 Tool Offset

erm. his program is correct. he DOES need to change a parameter. default factory setting does not use a different GEOMETRY offset. instead using a different offset such as T0818 will only use a different WEAR offset.
I had to do the same change on my machine (21i) to get it to use different geometry offsets for the same tool.
I forget the actual parameter now but it's probably this one....

    5002 bit 1 000000X0 (the X, labelled as LGN)

LGN Geometry offset number of tool offset (When the option of tool
geometry/wear compensation is selected, it is effective.)
0 : Is the same as wear offset number
1 : Specifies the geometry offset number by the tool selection number

You need to set it to 0

with this set you are using a different wear and geometry offset. so you need to make sure the geometry for the other offset (18) is the same as your original geometry offset (08). the actual wear amount can be different but the geometry offset amount must match for both 08 and 18 geometry offsets.

Careful now, I think the NLX is a mits control. Better double check.

it could be a 31i, he doesn't say. but yes, the info above is for a Fanuc control.
either way if he looks in the parameter manual it will tell him......
