    Arrow Artcam/Mach3 Problem

Here is the problem. I made up a file to cut in Mach3 in Artcam. I used the post in Artcam to create a toolpath file with the gcode the Mach3 can use. When I go to cut it in mach3 it automatically changes my axis ratios. Instead of having 1 inch = 1 inch, 1 inch of movement = like .01 inches or so on the digital DRO. This take the image from about 40mmx40mm and blows it up huge. I am trying to cut it on a sherline mill so it only has about 4x8 inches of travel.

Any ideas why a gcode file can or would change the actual traveled distance????

Please help. I can't cut anything yet THanks

Sounds like your post processor has some different settings in it than what it needs. I used to install Biesse machines and a few times you would see things like that from third party softwares. Usually someone in the support team where you bought the software can take a look at the g code and post and decipher out what is missing or start over to tie the two languages. or it could be that like TP says your scaling could be off in the post or between the two softwares. I would call artcam if you can and get a new post.

    Hi all,

if you use mach3 - in Settings, above reset button is one button "Set steps per unit"
you press it - it asks for an axis - then asks for a value to move machine on that axis - after move it asks for real move distance (you need to measure it) and then asks you to accept new value for steps per unit.
You will find that value in Config / Motor tunning / on each axis where you can change it manualy.

    Hope it helps.
    regards,
