    Illustrator to BobCAD

    Hello,

I have created some files in Illustrator that I need laser cut. The shop I am trying to work with uses BobCAD to run their laser. I have exported my files to both .dwg and .dfx formats and they are unable to use them. From what the laser operator is saying, there are no arcs on the files and they look like "scanned images".

Does anyone know how I can get my .ai files to work with their BobCAD program?

Thanks for any help or insight,

    Keith

DXF should work fine. Post one here so we can help to see what's up.

I have had the same problem with a flange from tube cad, dxf, Cant get it to run in bobcad. Still working on it, may send it to auto cad and then to BC and see if that will work. Hanging in there but having regrets on this MM stuff!

mcphill, thanks for helping. I have attached a zip file with both the Illustrator file and the DFX file I exported from it. Please note that the DFX file has had everything that was to be etched on the part removed and only shows the actual cut lines.

The dxf file looks ok to me.. Instruct the BobCad operator to use "utilities-explode-arcs" on the splines..

So, you guys are able to modify the arcs and/or other parts of the drawing?

If you use the method suggested by "Burrman" yes.
