    Large format printer teardown

I am looking at building a large format printer. I have looked into building one from scratch or modding an a4 deskjet into one that can print as a large format, however there are numerous issues with that approach (as I have read in a thread trying that approach).

So I am thinking of building one by purchasing/scrounging (and in some instances manufacturing) components-the way one would build a pc. Hence, I need to find someone who either owns/has access to a printer and is willing to take it apart and list the components.

    Any takers?
Any other suggestions for approaching such a task would also be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

Have a look for the designjet service manuals, that should have the info you want.
Large format printers aren't too disimilar to a desktop with the main differences the paper transport system.
