Use of TTL rotary encoder instead of 11uA heidenhain

    Members,
Is it possible to use TTL square wave rotary encoder with 500PPR instead of current interface 11uA with same PPR (both have A,A bar,B,B bar,C,C bar ) into TNC 407.

The 11µA uses a totally different interface so I cannot see it being possible.

    Thanks AL_THE_MAN
    I have another question

On a TNC 407, I have an spare encoder for X-axis siemens ac servo motor. It is not installed to the motor,
    1. I want to connect it with the control unit.
    2. By rotating it i want to see change in postition display of X just to confirm that it is in working position.
    Is it possible

If it is the same type encoder you should be able to, the controller may give you a following error after so many counts.

it is possible only if you have the converter/adapter as well.

i have no idea of what brand of encoder you are using.
just for your reference, i replaced a Heidenhain linear scale with a set of Fagor's + the adapter, for a much cheaper price.

adapter i used is for 1Vpp to 11uA conversion.
