    Question Citizen A20 Type 6 or 7 ??

We're looking at purchasing a Citizen A20 6 machine that is approx. 3 years old. Can anyone inform us as to what are the differences between a A20 6 to an A20 Type VII machine??

The A20 VI has no independant backworking tools. Your backwork is done with tools mounted in an endworking type station with the tool facing the subspindle. This works very well as long as your part cycle allows this without adding cycle time.
The A20 VII does have 4 backworking tools mounted separate from the Gangblock thereby allowing you more freedom. You still have the added ability of using the gangmounted tool positions to work on the sub spindle. That would give you 8 possible positions for backwork, 4 independant and 4 shared.
Either machine is a very well made and easy to learn machine.
    Good Luck!

    A-20 VI is a 4 axis swiss-style machine. $1 side Z1, X1, Y1 (ID tool block attached to $1 side), & Z2.
A2-20 VII is 5 axis swiss-style machine. $1 side Z1, X1, Y1 (with same ID block as VI), & X2,Z2 (with front mount ID tool post & backworking tool post).
Simular to the layout of an L5-20 VII, without all the bells & whistles.

get a a2-20 with the 30's tooling near the parts catcher, cycle times are greatly inproved over our a20 we have both in our shop and hands down a better machine because of the tooling layout
