    Lost Steps

    I have xylotex 3 axis running at 24 volt and 276 oz/in steppers run by CNCPRO
    I have used it for 2 years with little problems BUT recently started using CAM that out puts programs with thousands of little lines and now I am loosing steps in Z tool gets gradually deeper as it travels across the contour any advice would be greatly appreciated Im at an end

    Try lowering the z-axis acceleration.

    Yeah I was looking at the formula given in cncpro can anyone elaborate Im not sure what this ^ means here is the formula 1ft/sec^2 Idont recognize this ^ what does it mean ?

    OK that helps but how do I apply this formula sorr for the silly questions math is NOT a strong point of mine

    Ray,

    Acceleration is (Final Velocity - Starting Velocity)/Time

    In this case it would be

    30 IPM - 0 IPM / .25 Seconds (assuming it goes from 0 to 30 in a quarter of a second)

    30 IPM is .5 Inchers Per Second /.25 Seconds

    In the end, that comes to 2 inches / Second^2 (squared)

    Or if we go to google and search for (30 inches / 1 minute) / .25 seconds
    (google is a calculator too ) It says 0.0508 m / S^2 which is 2 inches/S^2

    Update Thanks for the help everyone I installed turbocnc 4 and after a lot of testing of settings I am happy to report that that solved my problem. BTW I tried tcnc 3 some time ago briefly and have to say I love what they have done with it the gui has improved tremendously not to mention it outputs the correct pulses so my router doesnt loose steps is well worth way more than the $60 Thanks for your hard work to all who developed this program
