BMC 25 - Z Axis creep when servos off.

Max 2 BMC 25, circa 1990. When you hit the e-stop to shut down the servos the Z axis sometimes creeps downwards. It creeps very slowly and sometimes comes to a stop by itself, others not. With a bit of effort you can push against it to bring it to a standstill.

It appears the previous owner added a piece of 2" plate to the counterweight, but this could be original, I am not sure. Either way it still doesn't hold the head up!

My question is, is there a brake on the Z axis on this machine that might be not working?

    Thanks in advance, Gregor

No brake on there, Gregor. There should be two blocks screwed together at 90 degrees on the counterbalance. It may just need the gibs nipping up a touch.

Yeah that's how the counterweight is. It's my dad's machine so I'll get a look at it next time I visit, probably christmas. Thanks Cliff.

No brake on that machine. They added weight to the counterbalance on some older machines.
