I have a Miyano TSV-21 with OM Fanuc controls on it.
The problem that I have is 2 years ago I lost all of the parameters, but got them back for someone on here(thanks).
I need to rigid tap on this machine, but I think I am missing something.
Using G84 it will tap in, stop when it get to the depth of thread, then it will reverse spindle, turn 10 revolutions then begin to feed out of the threaded hole.
Breaks a tap every time.
I am thinking that I have something wrong with the parameters/ diagnostics?
Is there a way to change the custom macro for rigid tapping, if so how.

You require an encoder on the spindle shaft, also check your PM's.

Is that the only solution? I ask because my bar still does the same thing. Mine does not wait 10 revolutions but a good 2sec is about right. I don’t break taps because I use the compression holders for now. I wanted to get rigid tapping on the machine but am naive to what hardware I need or where to even look. IIRC I started a thread on this topic some time back but I don’t think that I got much advice or I got busy putting out other fires. I will see if I can dig it up as I am sure it is going to become a priority soon as we just scrapped out a 70k casting because of threads on this machine.
