    Stepper Motor Center Wheel Size

I have acquired an old CNC machine which was built with 5 phase stepper motors. As I attempt to retrofit the machine with newer steppers of the bipolar fashion, I noticed the motor sizes are of course not compatible. The center locking wheel on the 5 phase stepper is 36 mm in diameter, whereas the typical NEMA23 stepper is 1.5" which is close to 38 mm.

Is there a bipolar stepper out there with the beveled round center at 36 mm, or will I need to build some form of an interface plate? That would be easy if I had a working CNC machine ;-) The chicken and the egg...

If you have a drill press you may be able to center bore the holes out to the 1.5" diameter if you can remove the mounting plates from the machine. Short of that, you might try a large tapered reem tool enlarge the hole slightly.
