    Biesse Rover 20 NC410

Has anyone retrofitted a Biesse machine?

We have a Biesse Rover 20 point to point machine that runs on NC410 programming by biesse. It's a okay program but I'm trying to get all are machines to run off of Bobcad20 and Mach 2.

Anybody ever change out a system?

Does this have horizontal drilling spindles as well as vertical? ATC? I don't think you can program the drilling spindles with standard Gcode in Mach2/3? I could be wrong, though.

Are the drilling spindles and router on the same Z-axis? You may be able to use M codes to turn on or drop individual spindles, and use G1 moves to drill. Programming in BobCAD to use the spindles might be tough. rewiring the machine to interface with Mach2/3 would not be an easy job either, I don't think.

Does the machine work fine right now?

    Rover retro

We just brought a Rover 20 NC 410 on the floor for evaluation and are not sure we are going to retrofit it. However, we run a Thermwood C50 with Galil controller / Camsoft package and One CNC Mill XR for Cam.
    WE recently added an air drill on the Thermwood and drive it as follows ;
Piggy back of on of our two Z axes, Fired with M codes using offsets to avoid crash between Z head and drill. In our code, the drill is basically a head driven on a common axis ; Router = T1, drill = T3, driven with all standard G codes. It really was rather easy to implement and works great.

Any tips on the NC 410 would be appreciated ....

i am working on a replacement controller for the old obsolete biesse . pc based.
still lots of software to write but i have it cutting under control etc
i expect about another month before i have the package ready for sale.
for the first few i will have to do full instalation myself (approx 2 days)
it will have the advantage of having mainly standard parts available anywhere. run huge programs. easy to import any drawing etc.
this is its first ever cut. the gcode took about 5 minutes to produce in total from a drawing.

    not sure.
only a few yaskawas will take step and direction.
most are standard analogue. see if its using a +/- 10volt signal. if it is its analogue.

mine is analogue. i use an expensive motion controller.
its not an easy retrofit (ive done over a month of programming!)

    To battwell.
I like your video on youtube.com. Do you make me a convert to the Biesse Rover 20 NC410 on Mach3?

what is on your machine? how many routers etc?
    do you use drilling ?
    saw?

my controller works well but wont run the old programs
    wont parametric program fully either.
but as you see can do anything else

would need pictures of the inside of your control cabinet to see what boards you have etc
