I have a Haas HL-2 that I just added a dunham bar puller to. I am able to write the program with no problems but when I go to pull the part with a M11 that opens the jaws the machine will not move in the z axis with the jaws open. I am programming in IPM with a G98 Any help would be great.

Will the machine do a rapid motion G00 with the jaws open?

Will it move either in rapid G00 or IPM G98 with the jaws closed and the spindle stopped?

We have several machines including an old HL1 and they all move using G98 with the jaws open so obviously it is possible.

I seem to recall there is a Parameter or Setting, I forget which, that controls whether the machine can do a feed move with the spindle stopped, but I have no idea which it is.

Hi Geof, No I just checked and the machine will not rapid in a G00 or a G98 with the jaws open. I do believe you are right. There most be a parameter or setting that needs to be changed. Just wondering what that would be?

You are in single block mode, so you must press CYC START repeatedly. You cannot press CYC START with the chuck unclamped, unless you change Parameter 278, bit 8 to 1.
