Using your CNC as a Jointer

I have been told this is doable, has anyone here done this? How did it turn out?
I'm just looking at doing pieces about 20 to 25 inches long and 2 inches thick.

On my CNC router to flatten stock I use BoBCADCAm facing feature. I set Z0 at lowest point and set facing depth to .005.

I can see using the router as a thickness planer but using it on the short edge is something I did not think of.

Make sure you climb cut or you'll get some nasty tearout.

You can always make a setup similar to a router table with two movable fences, one set slightly behind the other like a jointer table. Put a long straight bit in the spindle and move it into place. Push a board through with the stable supported by the holding torque of the steppers.

Here's an illustration of the router table setup: Router Table Used as Joiner* - "It works!!!" - Page 1
