    HELP WITH STEPPER HOLDING TORQUE


    Good evening.
    I have purchased a cnc machine & the stepper motors work O.K when moving all X.Y.Z. axis. but when the stepper motors are stationary there is no holding torque, & the ballscrews are able to be turned by hand.
    HAS ANY BODY ANY IDEAS. in simple terms please.

    Is it a Haas mill?

    Edit: based on the thread move, I guess it's not a Haas. Good luck with it!

    It's a feature, not a bug. Your driver or software is putting the drivers to sleep to keep from overheating the motors. There is probably a way to disable that. Contact the technical support at the company you purchased the unit from.

    Exclamation STEPPER MOTOR HOLDING CURRANT

    Hi James,
    Thank you for your help, have sent an email to them but they are in China & on Holiday (year of the rabbit i think ),
    In simple terms can any one tell me how the holding currant for these stepper motors works Please

    Sorry I don't know anything about the specifics of those drivers so can't help. Another example of crap from China.
