finishing 80% ar15 lower (Micro mill or Zen Toolworks CNC DIY)

Hello gents, im new on this forum.

I just bought Zen Toolworks CNC DIY Kit (7x7) & 80% TM lower w/ jig.
All I have are imagetoGcode & mach3 mill software.
This will be my first time to use the software, cnc machine and mill a 80% TM lower.

    My questions are:
    > does Zen Toolworks CNC DIY Kit (7x7) is cable of milling 80% TM lower
    > is there any available gcode for finishing 80% TM lower?

Zen Toolworks LLC - The most affordable CNC DIY Kits for the professional and hobbyist

I been reading about micro mill and most of the time they modify X1 & X2 micro mill to a CNC machine.
I dont know i i still have to buy a micro mill to finish 80% TM lower...

    Mini Mill Versions

    please help...

    Regards,
    Phey

    welcome to the zone!!!

I took a look at the receivers from tactical machining and from what i can see of what is left to complete the little zen wont work. you need more travel in Z than it has and I dont think it would be rigid enough to cut aluminum. The bench top mill would be your best bet and i would recommend getting there jigs if you dont already have them.

    @ Hennessy

Thanks for the input... i guess the only use of little zen for the receiver is engraving....

I'll planning to get the micro mill below but it think it is discontinued already, do you know where i can find one? or best alternative that you can suggest?

Ya that little zen will be good for engraving or any small wood or plastic parts.

I dont know what your budget is like but i would recommend something like this

    G0463 Mill / Drill

Your going to need a mill with at least 10" of Z travel depending on your fixture setup. You can get away with less but to me its better to have it and not need it than to need it and be sol. Did you get the kit that came with the jigs or did you just get the receiver?

If you need some more reference info this place is good... they have models for download and lots of picks to look at

After months of indecision to build or not to build I have finally ordered 7X7 3D printer model from Xin. Hoping to make parts in HDPE using the this littel one for my next CNC router.
