I need advice on buying one of these lathes anyone here have one to give an idea if they will do what i need? I will need to cut aluminum as large as 5" and stainless steel as large as 3" most of the time I will be cutting smaller parts but dont want to get something that wont do the job when needed. Thank you for any help on this.

Save your money. Smithy is not what they used to be at all. Buy a real lathe, you can probably get a small Jet or something for very close money.

A while back there was a guy who had 2 of their CNC machines he paid about 13K for and was selling them on E-Bay for 3K.
