Update to -5 now rigid tapping issue

Upgraded a couple of machines to a -5 now after using the g0 3000 and clear memory rigid tapping got weird. Here is a sample code

    M6t5 (1/2-13 tap
    G0 x4. y6.
    z.4h5m8
    g84.1g99z-.78s260f20.
    x5. y7.

Problem is it will rapid down to .4 then to Z0 then start tapping and raise to Z0 then rapid to the next hole. I also noticed after resetting the CNC that we were in format 1 and after switching to format 2 same thing. Do I need to reset memory again to get it to work like it did?
We have had good luck with our Fadals milling mostly soft steel and aluminum up to 5 axis. We are always looking for spare parts If you have a broken down Fadal give a shout.

No "R" clearance plane maybe? I would have expected an alarm rather than what you are seeing but that's my first thought.

Also, did you reset all the SETP parameters? There is one in there dealing with rigid tap.

The gain and ramp on page 2 of SETP is important as well as Z tap gain on page 3. Definately add an "R" plane atleast .200" above the surface to be tapped.

That's it, couldn't remember off the top of my head what those parameters were. You're an ace Neal, very glad to still see you here.

Never added an R plane in 19 years rigid tapping always went to the last Z and also after rapids to .3 above the part it rapids to Z zero so its not just a return plane issue.

If G99 is used the cycle will return to the clearance plane. If you use G98 then it will return to the Initial Plane. If you use neither the control defaults to G98.

It doesnt matter in the program on the machine it will rapid to the clearance plane then rapid to Z0H(X) then tap then at Z0 it will rapid to the next hole. I understand what G99 and G98 do but I think I have a bad software module.
