Hello,
I am in hopes that someone here is familiar with the Hermes Vanguard 7000 Engraver. I am having problems with the spindle motor in that It will not sustain any quantity of load whatsoever, and will not start revolving without a spin-assist by hand. With the belt attached between the motor and spindle it will not turn even with a hand-spin assist.
There is no capacitor attached to the motor and I am in hopes that someone is familiar enough to know if there is one somewhere inside the machine, or maybe a relay of some sort. If there is not then I can at least say that the motor needs replacement.

Yes, it has been awhile. I have since discarded the spindle entirely and eliminated all belting and pulleys. I have made a custom bracket to house a Bosch Router and am quite pleased with the results. The bracket is made from a piece of Aircraft Aluminum 7" X 3" X 1", and it was cut out by waterjet at a minimal cost, the Bosch Router cost was $150.00. It is variable speed and of course it is self powered. I was thinking of HF Spindle for same purpose but I had the same custom bracket construction problem. I would really like to see how did you make it.

I just removed the spindle motor from my vanguard 7200 as I plan on installing a router. If you're interested in the surplus motor let me know, we can probably come to an agreement.

Thank you Sir, but no, I would not be interested in any way. I have made a rugged bracket for my machine to hold a Bosch router that I use for short engraving jobs, (intermittent duty), and I also have a precision spindle that I use for longer jobs, (continuous duty). The construction quality of
the Hermes spindle was for intermittent duty only, and no where near the "Machine Tool" quality that I would expect.
