    Hafco al320g conversion

Wanted a share my lathe conversion.

Running ballscrews, steppers, gecko 251 drives and Mach3.

    Mostly cutting steel.

Next additions is adding threading, coolant and full enclosure.

Any body else converted an AL-320g?

    very good job dude,
machine looks beautiful from this side. How's the surface finish?
i see you are using reduction pulleys on steppers. why?
hook them up with 1:1 or direct drive and you get more rapids.
i have 200ipm rapids on my lathe with 300oz steppers and ballscrews. (but it has lm guides also) how much rapids you have there?

put something like [nomedia="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nKSB9QldlJA"]YouTube - CNC Turret - Benchtest #2[/nomedia] on it and it will be a queen.

    Jasminder,

Like the turret, have to live with a quick change tool post for a while.

Rapids are 50ipm and good surface finish. Looking into upgrading to nema 34 steppers and direct drive for speed, but that will be a little while.

    Mark.

No, but I am converting an AL54G which is a 280mm x 750mm bench lathe.
