Hello all I am new here and I just bought a DIY CNC ROUTER 16.48.4 that has 4-wire motors and I am in the process of setting it up with MACH3 but I think something has gone wrong.

My CNC goes all the way to the right and not to the left on my Y Axis.

My X Axis comes all the way forward but will not go away from me.

My Z Axis goes all the way up but will not go all the way down.

I bought my stepper motors from here 3 Nema23 Stepper Motor 270oz-in+3 axis board CNC kit - eBay (item 300488540670 end time Apr-01-11 07:31:59 PDT) and it claims that my color wires are these:

RED A+
GREEN A-
YELLOW B+
BLUE B-


My motors are 3.5A and only 4 wires.




These are the items I received with the stepper motors

•1 x 3 axis TB6560 Stepper Motor Driver board V type
•1 x DB25 parallel cable
•1 x Fan,4pcs M4 screw
•3 x 23HS8430 stepper motor
•1 x 200W 24VDC switching power supply


I bought the exact same color wiring to make sure I did not make a mistake when I hooked them up to the board.

Could someone please help me out and let me know what I am doing wrong.

HI.

This is probably not a mechanical problem but rather a software problem.

Check your port and pins configuration and verify for the motor output.

How are setup your pin for step and direction.

Can you post an image of the motor output message box.

Try to change the direction to active low.

Make sure the parallel port cable has all pins wired, and that every pin goes to the same pin on the other connector. If you can get to the parallel port pins at the control board that are assigned in Mach3 as DIR pins, put a dc voltmeter on the DIR pins and run the motors each way to see what the voltage does. It should be near 0v in one direction and near 5v in the other direction. As already mentioned, it's probably in the Mach3 configuration Output Pins settings. CarveOne

Did the printer cable come with the package or did you buy it. There are 2 cables that look the same. One is the straight pin to pin cable. And the other is a cable used for the old modems. This cable has a twisted pair and the pins are crossed at the other end.
