    Well, this is fun...

After switching over to Linux, half my websites are broken..It seems everything is case sensitive...

So, seeing as sometimes I liked a picture to a folder called CNC using lower case in the link, and other times upper case, I have to build two separate folders, on CNC and one cnc and then move the pictures inot the appropriate one on a case by case basis.. not only that, but the problem goes another folder/layer deeper, so there will be at least 4 folders involved..

To make matters worse, CNC Zone will not let me edit old posts, which if they would, it would make life easy (I could just edit the links), but instead, I now have to view the 'page source' of each and every page and see exactly how the link was typed, and then make sure I have a path identical to that for it to find..

This is going to take a while to fix... I have to do it in other threads too...

So, I guess Every night or two, I'll pour a beer, sit down and fix a few more links... And some day, before I die, this thread as well as my others, will all contain the pictures it originally did...

    :drowning:

Sux, I can't just go back and edit the original posts, as that would make it all brain dead simple....

As usual.. learning stuff the hard way....

Stuff broken in other forums too... Nice!

All right, I found a somewhat easy way to do it, and fortunately, once I got past a certain point the format stayed largely consistent.. So I marathoned it and fixed this thread...

Viewing the source and then searching with a partial url string that I knew would be in every link helped.. If I opened the source and then searched, and it came up empty, then I could just close the page and go to the next...

Anyways, if I feel ambitious, I'll take on the sander thread tonight... and maybe my dust boot thread as well...

From now on, I'm using all lower case, all the time...

Maybe this weekend, I'll take on JeepForum.. I shouldn't have too much over there, and then the homebrew forum which will be a bit more involved...

The sports forum I'm at.. forgettabout it.. way too much there... I'll just focus on some of the later stuff and call it good... Facebook too...

you know there are server commands that you can execute to change files in a folder or directory to lower case or upper case..

No I didn't know that.. I was thinking that there was probably an app out there or something that would do that though...

But that wouldn't help with getting everything to be in concert with all the websites I'm involved in.. Unless I could talk CNC Zone into doing that to their forum.. (Talk about creating a doo doo psunami! )

This is the 'worst' forum as it doesn't allow you to edit old posts...

This may be the case at other forums too, but I know that at least one other isn't that way...

I have to break the domain that is attached to all of these pictures, and as such the image links will be broken... I have moved them all to another domain, and all that is required where a linked image is missing, is to replace "www.mountiancraftworks.com" with "http://www.r8rphan.com/mc"...

I see no way to edit these links anymore, so if anyone knows how I can do that, I will do that for all my images on this site..... but short of that, the best I can do is to tell you where the new images are and you will have to manually load them and repoint the images...

There's no way to go back and edit them, unless A mod were to do it, and I doubt if anyone has the time. You might want to just upload your pictures here in the future, so this doesn't happen again.

These are common marriage problems. Just wanted to tell people that I am a marriage counselor (finished classes from www.becomeopedia.com) and I can help with your problems. Maybe I can save you marriage. You are all welcome to write me PM with your problems. Peace!
