how to activate the tailstok while the lathe is running.

    Hi,

Mostly i am working on a lathe Okuma LB 15,controll OSP 5000L-G.
Now i want Turning a long part with a small diameter.
I want turning the frontside and then the center gripping on the face and i want turning the face to the chuck.
It will be with M20(tailstock barrier off) M56 (tailstock advance) and M55 (tailstock Retract).
But what is the parameter to activating the tailstock?
    Who can help me?

    Dick.

Not a programming thing, you set the tailstock on in the chuck setting page. You may still need to release the tailstock interlock in the program, m code, don't have the book here. I thought it was m157.

    Hi all,
Tried this myself over a year back.

Enabled the tailstock in the parameter screen, then in my program had it face the part, centre the bar and advance the tailstock before continuing.

Well, I couldnt get it to do that. It kept requiring the center in place before the cycle would start no matter what I done.

So gave up as time was an issue and pre-faced and centered all bars on another machine and just loaded each into the okuma and advanced the center before running the program.

Ours was also a LB-15 with OSP 5000LG control.

Cannot test anything out for you at this time as our machine has been sat for the last 16 months out of action with a failed bubble memory card, so its a 4 tonne paperweight at the moment :-)

Would still like to hear a solution to the OP 's inquiry tho, incase our machine gets fixed.

    Rich.

You need to program m157 if you have the tailstock on but retracted. M156 puts it back to normal when you advance it. Interlock release.

There are two funny things about this thread,

one- I actually forgot that I was the one who started the other thread!!

two- the O.P. here has the answer right in front of him and hasn't seen it.
