    Image to Etch

So i have TurboCad and design alot of parts to cut pretty easily but i have just started trying to get into etching.
here is an example of a picture that i want to etch into wood and plastic, a project for my daughter.

A friend told me that he simply converts the picture to grayscale and can convert it to a dxf file ready for etching in turboCAD.
I was wondering is that even possible because i have not had any luck in doing so. If it is can someone explain it a little better or if it isnt is there a program that i can conver images to dxf files.
Thanks in advance for the help.

Hi I am new to all this, building a cnc router table 1.6 x 2.8 meters. Having played around with TurboCad v7.1 for some time and still below beginner, am also trying draft for copper chemical etching.Sorry I can't help, but I would like to know what you come up with if anything and I will do the same.

    Cheers
I may need to pick your brains when I get my router going.
