    Identify this insert

I'm a complete newbie when it comes to Indexable endmills, so bear with me. Can anyone identify this insert? It's a 1/2" diameter, and I've been told it *could* be a WPB-N.

    Andrew,
It looks like a "Flat Nose Dapra Finish" insert...

    Here: http://www.dapra.com/cutting/ballnose/inserts.htm
(Note: The opinions expressed in this post are my own and are not necessarily those of CNCzone and its management)

    Thanks WMS!

A more important question might be, am I going to be able to do slotting in Aluminum with something like this?

That is a backdraft tool. It is used primarily as a finishing tool for 3 axis machining and for pocketing using light depths of cut. It is not designed for slotting and I wouldn't recommend using it for that.
