Question Spindle calibration with Mach, VFD, and a G540

    Oh Boy!

I was so exited to see my Chinese spindle and huanyang VFD controlled by mach! I have a few issues with the setup and I'm hoping you guys can help!

The first problem i am encountering is when I start the the spindle it speeds up to 14000 when I specify 11000 RPM. I hit the reset button and it slows down closer to 11000. Mach shows 11000, but the VFD reads about 14000 How can I get it to start to the correct speed automatically without hitting the reset button?

Next, the slowest speed mach is running the spindle at is 6836 RPM. The VFD is set for the slowest being 6000 RPM. What is going on here?

The last problem is probably linked to the other two. The RPM reading in mach is proportionally not correct. The spindle is about 384 RPM fast at its slowest setting. At the high end, 24000 RPM, the vfd and mach are both correct.

How do I correct the settings to calibrate mach to the vfd or the vfd to mach?

    Try adjusting your pulley speeds.

Yeah, that was the first thing I did but it did not solve the problems.

I have the same issue with you Pplug. Have you figured out how to resolve this issue? Thanks in advance.

Did you calibrate off of the motors spindle rpm first, then account for the pulleys?

Yes I did. Unfortunately, it doesn't matter. Mach is sending all kinds of different speeds. One job will run at a set 15000 rpm then the next job the speeds in the code are set the same and Mach changes the speed to something slower. It's a very weird problem.

I ended up calibrating my settings for 15k and tweak it after to get something close to the one I need. It sux but I don't have modbus on the vfd.
