Post A new tool to fill gaps in triangle mesh models

    Ladies and gentlemen,
a new tool to fill gaps in triangle mesh models, especially in models obtained from scan data, is available: Triangle Mesh Completer by Alexander Emeljanov. 3D tools - Rhinoceros plug-in & standalone program.
Currently it is released as a plug-in for Rhino 4.0 ( Modeling tools for designers ) and as a standalone utility as well. The last one is intended to use with a proper mesh viewer / editor that supports the .OFF file format (for example: freely distributed MeshLab: MeshLab | Download MeshLab software for free at SourceForge.net ). If you have any questions concerning this tool, please feel free to ask.

    Regards,
    Alexander

    new release

Hi all, version 1.05 has been released. In this release a 64-bit version of the standalone utility is added. The main difference from the previous version is a more flexible and efficient implementation of the filtering step (the corresponding topic has been added to the manuals). In general, the repairing becomes more robust and in some cases faster.
    With the best regards,
    Alexander

    version 3.00

    Ladies and gentlemen,
now the next version (3.0) is available on Triangle Mesh Completer by Alexander Emelyanov. Mesh repairing tools - Rhinoceros plug-in & standalone program .

The main benefits of the new version are following:
    1. Simplicity of usage – in a majority of cases it is enough only to specify input and push the button “process”. All available possibilities to adjust the repairing in some particular cases are represented by 3 check boxes. Other settings are set up and managed automatically. This version doesn’t use any processing profiles.
    2. A special care to prevent appearance of residual holes in output result.
    3. A greater robustness in cases when the surface is represented by a set of isolated mesh pieces.
