    Engravable parchment

Are there any woods that look like parchment?

Or is there a simple paint or finish system that mimics parchment?

    Thanks,
    Mark

found a faux paint method for walls.. wonder if there is something out there in a spray can system for smaller areas...

Anyone heard of such a product?

Trying to make old looking documents out of engraved wood...

Ever think of gluing actual parchment paper to MDF? You could glue and vacuum bag it, then finish it with lacquer or other to make it durable (and maybe more engravev-friendly...)

Was looking at pear wood on ebay... that's some pretty stuff...

Forgive my ignorance, but is it wood from 'any' pear tree, or just the ones in europe?

I have a customer that wants me to cut down a dying pear tree, and a dying nectarine tree... They're neither 'real' big, but I might be able to get a few 3-4" wide pieces out of each...

I wonder what 'nectarine' wood is like?

Looked up nectarine wood on internet and found a lot about using it for barbequing. If all else fails, you'll get a unique meal out of cutting down the tree.
