    My feet hurt.......

    Hi
Newbie. I'm not sure this is the correct place to ask this and if not, my apologies. I'm new and spend ALOT of time in front of the machine making mistakes. So much so, my feet hurt. It would be really good to find a folding arm so I could sit and practice. Has anyone built one or know of a place they can be obtained. And yes, I'm old!
    Any information appreciated.
    Thanks

Do what I do. Sit down.
I had an old swiveling drafting chair; the ones they used while sitting at a real drafting table. You know, before CAD became the norm. It had a very nice substantial base but a thin and uncomfortable stamped metal back and seat. I threw the upper seat assembly away and took the upper part of an old office swivel chair ($2.00 from a government auction) that had arms, and made a very nice high-chair. It doesn't roll around but that's a good thing since it is a lot higher than the original office chair. The two parts fit together without any modification. I move it between my lathes and Mill, and soom to be completed CNC machine.

    chair/arm

    Hi
Thanks for the response. I have a good chair but I need some kind of fold down arm for the monitor. As it is now, it is too high (and a bit far...blurry for some reason) to use. I can deal with the keyboard but I've got to find a better solution for the monitor. I'm sure someone has found a solution. Either way, my choices so far amount to sore feet or a sore neck. Gotta be a better way. Old dental and operatory lights fill the bill but are way to expensive. Any body out there know where such things hide?

It sounds like you could use an industrial version of articulated type similar to one used on a desk lamp?
If so, if nothing is available off the shelf, you could may be cannibalize and beef up a well made lamp stand.

    looks that way

Yes, that is likely what I'll have to do. I'm thinking that copying a desk lamp using bigger stuff may be the answer......one step forward, three steps back. ANOTHER PROJECT!!
