CEi seeks a Quality Engineer II (NC probing and PC DMIS expertise) for our Sacramento, CA office.

The Quality Engineer, through integrated product/manufacturing process team participation, uses expertise and judgment in implementing a wide variety of quality concepts, practices and procedures. The position Prepares, proofs, and documents CMM/NC probe inspection programs using PC DMIS for CMM machines and multi-axis machining centers. Provides support to quality, engineering, and production through advanced CMM programming and inspection. Implements inspection programs to efficiently measure complex machined tools and parts, manufactured from common aerospace materials, to exacting tolerances. Heavy emphasis is placed on complex and first article part layout and probe inspection to qualify new or changed tooling or parts will contributes to product and manufacturing process design, as well as the methods for verification and validation of product and deliverable systems and services to ensure adherence to company and customer requirements. The Quality Engineer works towards the prevention and/or resolution of product and manufacturing process nonconformance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create CMM and NC inspection programs using PC-DMIS software, to include set-up instructions.
  • Reviews CMM or inspection data for the qualification of new product and production tooling.
  • Reviews and/or prepares documentation to support product/system delivery, including configuration and documentation verification.
  • Analyzes and reports on process performance with emphasis on “critical to” and “cost of” quality.
  • Leads root cause analysis efforts and subsequently is responsible for developing and implementing robust effective corrective/preventative action plans.
  • Participates and supports Material Review Boards (MRB) on assorted programs or projects as assigned.
  • Dispositions discrepant materials as identified by internal departments or customers.
  • During manufacturing process and product design reviews, ensures that related quality considerations are well defined and documented in quality and inspection plans.
  • Interfaces with and supports Supplier Quality Engineers on issues deriving from purchased items.
  • Participate in design reviews on cross-functional teams to ensure that conformance to specification, inspect-ability, reliability, safety, and quality system objectives are met.
  • Assist engineers with qualification and validation of new or changed tooling or parts.
  • Use of common gages and measurement instruments for inspection purposes.
  • Prepare detailed inspection documentation such as written descriptions of inspection results, including deviations from engineering specifications.
  • Take the initiative to continually improve processes.
  • Work from written or verbal instructions, detailed engineering drawings and 3D models.
  • Assist in mentoring other quality personnel as required.
  • Comply with established safety directives.
  • Comply with established QMS procedures.
  • Communicate in English, both written and verbal.
  • Work well as an individual contributor as well as in a team environment.



TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing or equivalent experience.
  • 3-6 years experience as Q.E. in manufacturing.
  • Proficient in developing NC probing and CMM inspection programs utilizing PC-DMIS software
  • Experience with quality systems ISO 9001 and SAE AS9100.
  • Proficient in root cause, corrective and preventive action programs.
  • Able to read and interpret design drawings, schematics and military specifications.
  • Demonstrated GD&T skills.
  • Knowledge of Statistical Process
Control tools (SPC).
Ability to interpret 3D models

Additional Desirable Qualifications:
Experience with composites.
