Is VCarve Pro good for engraving small letters?

I am looking into VCarve Pro. I just downloaded the trial version and the program seems to be everything the we need. It seems to be geared toward larger scale work. Is it good for engraving smaller lettering?

I own a marine electronics business. We are expanding and adding services for our customers. We would like to be able to produce engraved helm panels and electrical panels. The lettering would typically be about 3/8" tall. There would also be line art of boats on some of the panels.

I have attached a couple of pictures of the types of panels we would like to produce.

Vectric's V-CarvePro software is highly capable of what you require...! It has the ability to v-carve enclosed vector font types OR engrave single line fonts. The only issue is tooling. Most likely... for lettering at 3/8" you'll be using 30 or 60 deg (included angle) engraving bits for enclosed vector alphanumerics... and for the single line font engraving... something in the 0.0625" to 0.125" neighborhood for end mills... ballnose or otherwise.

    Hope that helps...

That does help. I already have the tooling for engraving, I'm just looking for the right software. I think VCarve is the answer.

    Hello jharvey407,

Attached are some images from a customer project posted on the
Vectric Forum which might be along similar lines to what you are
looking to do with the CNC machine.

You are thinking correctly! One addition that I might suggest is a vacuum table to keep the work perfectly flat while you engrave. There are several different sizes available from different manufacturers.

I wonder if VCarve can fit the letters to a curve?

Yes, it can. The feature is called "Wrap text along a curve".
