    8020 Fastener Alternatives

I feel like I should be careful saying this as I dont want to seem like a whiner but wow, the shipping charges for fasteners on 8020's ebay store are brutal. I just paid 6 dollars to ship 25 little pieces.

Any of you using an alternative? Homemade or otherwise?

Fasteners to do what? Connect things to the slots? connect extrusion together? at angle?

A lot of people here are using 5/16" carriage bolts and lock nuts to fasten things to the slots, like steel plate rails.

I think it holds even better than the 8020 t-nuts although you have to plan ahead how many you need on each piece of extrusion before fastening.

yes 5/16 carriage bolts work for the fractional series like the 1530/3030/3060 for sure. They worked well for me.

I'm sorry for not being clear.

I'm fastening two parts in a cross like form. I 'll have to drill holes to get to the head.

Regarding the carriage bolts - does the square next conveniently hole the bolt still so you can torque it down?

Try to group your orders to combine shipping. That brings the per-item price way down.
