    B.L.M. B/40 tube bending machine

I buy B.L.M. B/40 made in 1970 tube bending machine and during unloading on truck forklift hit control box and smash switches, fuses and cut wires so I dont know how to connect wires. I would like to modernize machine with new electronics instead fixing old system. Machine have system for setting angle which is not useful ( 12 switches for setting angle like 30+90 to get 120° ).
I would like to use existing el. motor=hydraulic pump, hydraulic valve, hydraulic cylinders and change how to control machine with new electronics.
I search internet and find on forums and web pages that tube bending machine use PLC system.
I would like to set angle of bending, controling hydraulic cylinder clamping, bending, hydraulic cylinder unclamping, retracting, add tube advance and tube rotation other functions
Does someone know about tube bending systems.

I find some videos for reference on youtube.

This video showing seting angle and bending and returning swing arm to 0 angle ( Home )

I would like to build something like this. What is electronics ( control panel on this machine with LCD screen )

    Hi,

I have been designing and manufacturing rebar bender controllers for over 20 years (among many other industrial controls). I have one that works with an older style hydraulic machine (from Italy) which may have mechanical functions and operate similarly to the tube bender, and I may be able to customize one for you, though they are built to order. Where are you located?

Here's a brief description of the controller

Click below for a YouTube video of the controller operating a machine in test mode:

and a short video of the controller operating a machine in production: [nomedia="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=60LndU0BDaM"]‪MVI 0201‬‏ - YouTube[/nomedia]

I have done a similar one using a Galil stand alone motion card, this takes care of the tube feed, tube rotation and angle bending.
But the bend is most accurate with a hyd servo valve, you can switch a regular solenoid off by encoder position co-incidence position, but it may not be as accurate.
The minimum display can be a 2 line/keypad Maple Systems product for operator entry.
As this one appears to be purely electro-mecanical, there may be some work to upgrade it or replicate a modern Pines bender etc.

    Upgrade

It might make it easier to decide on next step if you had the original control manual and wiring diagram, from this a contol setup could be thought about. Looking at the pictures, it seems that most funtions were controlled by hydraulics and some control over angle, the wiring diagram, would show these controls and how the old control received data.

It appears that there is only limit switch/relay logic and set manually, no electronics?

Al_The_Man: What you suggest me to do.

What to use from existing machine and what to change and what.
    - what Galil stand alone motion card
    - what hyd servo valve for my situation
    - what 2 line/keypad Maple Systems or other
    - what to upgrade it or replicate like modern Pines bender
    - what I need to control hydraulic cylinder on swing arm and hydraulic cylinder on the end machine

Can you make me a list what I need

    There is 2 limit switch
picture 1 if chain which hydraulic cylinder break up to stop move
picture 2 when swing arm return

I'm afraid the type of machine you have will require a complete make-over to turn it into a auto or semi automatic machine.
To turn this present design around needs considerable work, both electro-mechanical and electronic.
To do this from a distance is very difficult, especially if you have limited resources in the area of electrical/electronic/motion control.
The controller I have used in the past is like ebay 290586977192
    from Galil Motion Control.
The machine I had converted had originally been electronically controlled.

I am not afraid to work, you tell me what I need to do and I will do it.
Can you explain me what will controller Galil DMC 1530 controling on machine, what else I need for this controller: cables, software, TERM Operator Terminal H/P or other keypad for operator entry, encoder, servo valve........Can you make me a list what I need

To start fixing can you see pictures of el. motor=hydraulic pump and control box how originally el. motor=hydraulic pump are connected. Can you draw scheme how to connect from wall outlet to switches, fuses, contactor to motor.
If you need more pictures or other informations just say.
